Today I got some new production toys and decided to use them to re-mix and re-master my late dad, Gerard O'Driscoll's version of FIELDS OF ATHENRY by Pete St. John. Then Canadian Ambassador Loyola Hearn, was kind enough to arrange a meeting for me with Pete at the Canadian Embassy in Dublin in 2012. My daughter Meghan and I spent several wonderful hours with the Ambassador and the iconic Irish songwriter; he was moved to tears when Meghan showed him a photo of my dad's headstone on which is enscribed the chorus of FIELDS OF ATHENRY. It was a great and emotional day and I will be forever grateful to Loyola for doing this - totally unbeknownst to me. A week later on Canada Day, I was priveledged to attend his and wife Maureen's Garden Party at their residence Canada House in Dalky, Dublin. I got to meet the Lord Mayor of Dublin and the President of Ireland - and was lucky enough to win the door prize. (Should have purchased a lotto ticket that day). What a week in Ireland! Oh my God.

I am delighted that my song CHRISTMAS IN THE HARBOUR is the #4 most popular song on VOCM Radio's NL Christmas Top 10 in Newfoundland and Labrador. It has been at varying positions on that list for 45 years. Thank you VOCM and all VOCM listeners. Happy Christmas!

Congratulations to Fred Jorgenson and Fine Crowd. Their song "Christmas Comes But Once A Year" reached #24 on the VOCM Christmas Top 50. As well my song "Christmas Eve In St. John's" sung by D'Arcy Broderick reached #26. Both songs are from the 1998 CHRISTMAS IN THE HARBOUR album. Thank you to VOCM and VOCM listeners. A COMPLETE DEMO ALBUM
Now I have a complete album of 15 Christmas and Holiday songs that I can use to demonstrate to artists so that they can make their own recordings. I have played these tracks for several prominent NL artists, industry professionals and to family, friends and colleagues. The response has been tremendous. I plan to share several lyric videos of the songs on YouTube and FaceBook to get a better idea of how these songs might go over with the general public. I am very curious as to what the average listener thinks of this new batch of Christmas and Holiday songs. It's all kind of exciting.

15 NEW CHRISTMAS SONGS
As I had a backlog of Christmas and Holiday songs requiring demos, I decided to try AI to create new demos. These songs are in various styles ranging from traditional, to celtic, to country, to pop and some crossover styles - ideal candidates to try out using AI. So I went at it with a vengeance and over the next several months I had completed 11 songs - perfectly suited to play for prospective artists and other industry types such as TV and radio producers who would hopefully be able to utilize them as part of their own production projects. I have done this with artists in the past including the Irish Descendants, Ennis Sisters, Shanneyganock, Allison Crowe, Cod Gone Wild and many more. I have also had significant success in the past with the CBC, CTV and other content creators.
So I completed the mixes, mastered the tracks, designed an album cover (with the help of GEMINI), and a simple marketing plan (with the assistance of ChatGPT); and voila - the CHRISTMAS AGAIN DEMO ALBUM.

EXPLORING THE POSSIBILITIES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MUSIC PRODUCTION
Over the past few months I have been exploring the possibilities of artificial intelligence (AI) as it pertains to music and song production. While this technology is shockingly new - it is also shockingly powerful. I tried it out actually generating songs - words and music - written by the software. That is, ask it to write a song about a certain subject and to create it in a particular style. It actually works - but, as in the old computer jargon, it was a classic case of GIGO or “garbage in garbage out”. The results vary wildly.
